Halden is one of Norway’s highest-security jails, holding rapists, murderers and paedophiles. Since it opened two years ago, at a cost of 1.3bn Norwegian kroner (£138m), it has acquired a reputation as the world’s most humane prison. It is the flagship of the Norwegian justice system, where the focus is on rehabilitation rather than punishment.

Die neuen Flughäfen schaffen die Idee des Fliegens ab: Das ästhetische Versprechen ist weg, das reale Tempo auch. Bauverzögerungen sind da das kleinste Problem.
Henkel, Geschäftführerin eines Herstellers von Stahlrohrmöbeln, gehört zu einer seltenen Spezies: Unternehmer, die bewusst auf Wachstum verzichten. Der 1922 von Henkels Vater gegründete Betrieb hat 50 Mitarbeiter, “schon immer”, wie sie sagt. An einer Expansion hat Henkel kein Interesse. “Für uns ist Umsatzwachstum nicht mehr das richtige Ziel.”
